This food fesival runs from the 31st August 2013 to 2nd September 2013 and sees mackerel cooked, grilled and bar-b-qued in the open air by local chefs.  Food trails, samples, family fun activities and live entertainment free for all.

With something for everyone and fun for all the family, visitors to the Macroom Food Festival will enjoy food demonstrations, the best of Irish food produce, entertainment, kids play areas & live music. This is the second ever food festival in Macroom and it will be a true feast for the senses, showcasing an extensive collection of culinary delights from Macroom and the surrounding areas.

The festival will kick off on Friday 27th September with exciting food demonstrations, followed by a busking competition on the streets on Macroom on Saturday 28th – come listen to the best of musical talent from near and far – or follow the taste trail around town, sampling tasty bites of local produce, washed down with a pint of stout, glass of wine or cup of tea. Saturday evening will see wonderful local cheeses showcased against a selection of fine wines in a cheese and wine tasting event. And finally the grand finale will take place on Sunday 29th with a monster food market in the Square, Macroom. Artisan Food Producers from around Munster will be out in force, selling their delicacies. The schools ‘cook-off’ will guarantee an exciting competition between the student cooks of Cork’s schools while there will be live music and plenty childrens’ entertainment to delight all the family.
