Camden Fort Meagher, Crosshaven celebrate their closing weekend with the “Irish Military Living History” and the “Romans” Re-enactment Groups as well as live music and fun for all the family!

IMLH Group are dedicated to bringing history back to life! Their mission is to give people an impression of what life was like for the average solider, to educate the public of a time gone by and the sacrifices made by so many.  The groups are regulars at the fort and always guarantee a fun and educational day out for military enthusiasts and families alike. Camden Fort Meagher is a Cork County Council Restoration Project in partnership with a dedicated group of local volunteers. Overlooking Cork Harbour and internationally recognised as being “one of the finest remaining examples of a Coastal Artillery Fort in the world”. Enjoy an ideal family day out with lots to see and do, including underground tunnels and chambers, exhibitions and harbour view Tearooms.

Macroom’s own Jim Murray is one of Ireland’s finest guitarists and his formidable reputation has been established as a player of traditional music – both as a melody player and as an accompanist. Accordion player and singer Séamus Begley is one of the most popular Irish traditional musicians, coming as he does from one of the most musically acclaimed Irish families. Seamus is the quintessential Irish musician, an eager storyteller known for his sharp wit and famous for pumping out tune after tune at all night sessions!

Already establishing a truly distinctive and increasingly popular singing style in the world of music, Annmarie O’Riordan hails from the wonderfully picturesque Barony of Duhallow in County Cork.  As a seven year old Annmarie joined the Millstreet branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóiri Éireann and competed in Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Scór and similar competitions winning both provincial and national titles. While she enjoyed participating in the various cultural competitions her heartfelt desire to sing just for the love of singing led her away from competitions focusing more on exploring the songs she enjoyed most and loved to share these with appreciative listeners. Annmarie’s wonderfully distinctive singing voice has become superbly recognisable not only at national level here in Ireland but increasingly on a much wider international scale.

Briery Gap is delighted to have been chosen as the only venue in Cork to host the Comhaltas Macalla na hEireann 2015.  Each year the National Tour assembles a fine mix of established artists together with up-and coming young stars drawn from all four provinces of Ireland.  These are blended together into a fast-moving and colourful show which appeals to both the connoisseurs and peripheral fans of Irish traditonal entertainment.
