Castletownroche Welcome Home Festival

Castletownroche Welcome Home Festival

The ‘Homecoming festival’ is a welcome home festival to the friends and families, who have emigrated,  and their new friends and families. It’s an opportunity to enjoy again the things we once took for granted, from a fair day to a vintage rally, or, a medieval style banquet in Blackwater Castle, complemented, of course, by extensive and varied local cuisine.

There is also the thrill of an adventure day at the outdoor activities centre, or you can express your talent in the ‘Emigrants Song Competition’, then, maybe, join in a night of ‘ceoil agus rince’. For those interested in heritage, and genealogy, we have a special weekend, during festival week, where you can literally ‘Jump into your Irish Heritage’ Castletownroche is the resting place of T.P. Keenan, stage name Tommy Conway, who penned such classics as ‘The Old Rustic Bridge by the Mill’, ‘The Boys of the County Armagh’ and many other well known songs, tar linn, beidh spraoì.

This event begins the 12th July 2013 and ends 21st July 2013 and is inspired by friends and families that have emigrated. The event will feature many fun activities for all to enjoy.
