Brief history of O’Mahony’s bar Killeagh.

O’Mahony’s bar in Killeagh, has been a family run
establishment since its purchase in 1893 by Kate and Denis O’Connell. However
the building has a long history as a public house. Prior to this date it was
known as the Brooke Arms Hotel and was a Bianconi coach stop in the mid-1800s.
The ruins of the old coach stop can still be seen at the rear of the premises.

The pub became known as
P.JO’Mahony’s in 1930 on the marriage of Patrick O’Mahony to the niece
of Kate and Denis O’Connell, Maureen Byrne. Four generations later, O’Mahony’s
bar is renowned for its warm, friendly atmosphere and has been associated with
music in East Cork for many years.

O Mahony’s Bar is still in the O Mahony family and is run by
Andrew O Mahony
