Inish Beg is a beautiful private island estate in West Cork; with a stone bridge connecting Inish Beg to the mainland, a few miles from the thriving market town of Skibbereen and the idyllic little port of Baltimore with its sailing, fishing and diving centers.

Fanned by the warm currents of the Gulf Stream, the island enjoys an idyllic setting in a micro climate which supports unusual species of flora and fauna.

Inish Beg estate has been sympathetically restored to its former glory over the past 14 years by owners Georgiana and Paul Keane.  Set in 97 acres of wooded ground, organic farm land, and landscaped gardens in the River IIen Estuary Inish Beg offers a wonderfully divers range of rural scenery in just one location. When their ten holiday homes are full to capacity and
counting their staff, the population density is still probably of one person to two acres.

Peace, tranquility, fresh air, beautiful scenery, wildlife, woodland walks, horse and carriage rides and water sports are all on offer at Inish Beg.  Some organic vegetables and herbs are
available for guests to purchase from the walled garden, as are fresh eggs and honey produced on the Inish Beg estate. Visitors are welcome to view the gardens which are open to the public daily 10am – 5pm (featured in “100 Best Gardens of Ireland” by Liberty Press, 2011).

There is a variety of styles available in the award winning accommodation. The Boat House, ( featured here, is Inish Beg’s piéce de resistance, equipped to the highest standards with even an otter at the slip.  Who could ask for more?

Inish Beg House, built in the 1890’s has been lovingly restored and overlooks a sunken garden with views to the estuary. To the rear, within the Victorian walled garden is the Inish Beg full length indoor swimming pool, complete with sauna, steam room and a small gymnasium.

The ten rental properties range in price from Euro 395 – Euro 2,950 per week and shorter stays are accommodated from September through to mid July.

At the water sports center, guests can take Irish Sailing Association (ISA) courses in power-boating. Rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) can also be hired to visit Sherkin, Cape Clear or some other of Carbery’s 100 Isles. There are a myriad leisure activities on offer in the locality, including, scuba diving, sea kayaking, sailing, angling, whale watching and quad biking.
And for those preferring less energetic pursuits, tailor made cookery courses can be arranged for small intimate groups of 10 or more people – very popular with Hen Parties!

Always, a romantic choice, Inish Beg has also become a sought after wedding venue, catering for civil ceremonies and receptions for boutique style weddings at The Boat House
or in the grounds and hosting larger marquee wedding receptions in a beautiful waterfront setting with Creagh church as the backdrop – truly a world apart. A vintage car from the vintage car collection is available for hire to transport the bride and groom. Of late, discerning hens and stags are even choosing Inish Beg for their pre-nuptial festivities and The Garden Retreat and our latest addition, The Gypsy Retreat (, are proving favourites with couples.
